Parliament Convenes Extraordinary Sitting
1 / 10

On March 19, at the deputies’ initiative the RA National Assembly convened an extraordinary sitting, having on the agenda the draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Constitutional Law the RA Judicial Code authored by the deputies of the NA My Step Faction Vladimir Vardanyan, Anna Karapetyan, Artur Davtyan, Vahagn Hovakimyan and Sergey Atomyan with the enclosed package.

In response to the deputies’ questions, the rapporteur Vladimir Vardanyan has informed that the debate is conditioned by the necessity of the solution of a number of topical problems facing the judicial system.

The deputy Karen Simonyan proposed to hold the debate of the initiative in the second reading at least after a week in order the parliament would have an opportunity to consider it thoroughly. The parliament did not accept the proposal. The debate of the package in the second reading will be held after passing it in the first reading within twenty-four hours by the NA decision.

The MPs Taguhi Tovmasyan and Gor Gevorgyan delivered speeches.

“I would like to inform that we returned from Artsakh yesterday. My colleagues Anna Grigoryan and Sofia Hovsepyan and me form Artsakh initiative. We want to be the voice of Artsakh in this parliament. We think that we should have special attitude towards Artsakh. If before we considered that Armenia is the warrant for Artsakh, now we confidently can say that Artsakh is the warrant of Armenia’s security,” Taguhi Tovmasyan.

“Mr Mirzoyan, it is already time to record that the government system has exhausted itself, moreover it is evil. It is time that before the snap elections we speak about changing the government system. I believe that the presidential government system will be more justified at this moment,” Gor Gevorgyan noted.
